what's with us Israelites?

here's an interesting scriptural connection (sorry FARMS people if you already wrote about this and i am just ignorant of this): the Israelites exiting Egypt in Exodus and the Israelites leaving hostile Lamanite lands (in the Book of Mormon) made interesting comparable statements. the Egyptian Israelites said that it would be better to be in bondage to the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness (Exodus 14:12). what they meant by this statement is that they were more willing to accept the world's security (albeit in slavery) than to accept the Lord's promise of the promised land (which they couldn't see fulfilled yet). the new-world Israelites, on the other hand, said similar words but meant something quite different. they told Ammon that it would be better to be in bondage to the Nephites than to stay in their land and perish. they meant by this that it would be better to be in bondage (and yet live amongst the faithful in the Lord's blessed-land) than to stay in their worldly-touched land and die. how often do we sit back and stay in the death or slavery of the comfortable world instead of following the Lord and his promises?

whoa buddy, follow that one up with an ammonism!

i was reading the scriptures (specifically the Book of Mormon) was reminded of Ammon's tendency to make a statement and then correct himself quickly (for example, "I will show them my power, or the power which is in me..."). Ammon's frequent tendency to do this led to me coining his word-correction as an ammonism. i haven't decided yet if the verb would be "to ammonize". some may point to the fact that Ammon thinks of himself as something and that thoughts of humility are afterthoughts, but one need only go to Alma 26 to find a disclosure of Ammon's thoughts on the subject. i personally think there should be more ammonizing going on and more ammonisms floating in our conversations. so instead of saying, "look at my awesome sprinting skills", we could ammonize and say, "the Lord has blessed me to run fast." we might even resort to second-half-ammonisms (SHAs) and just say the latter construction about how the Lord gives us our strength and power. something to consider.

ideas

so, i'm going to start this blog with no intro, because i'm already born and have lived more than 25 years. my little brother and i make movies (at least once a month), and i was thinking that we could make a movie entitled, "the white ninja." i wanted to get y'alls' opinions about the premise of the movie. i was thinking there could be a reformed ninja that does good (like mediation or philanthropy) but has to stay on his toes since the ninja masters often send out bad ninjas (meaning assassins) to try to kill him. so the movie (or maybe set of episodes) would include the ninja trying to better the world non-violently while trying to avoid the other ninjas and stay alive. what do y'all think?
